In these contexts, the delivery of vitamin A is crucial, but the progress made in the past decades has slowed.35 It is well known that vitamin A deficiency is associated with ocular pathologies and all-cause mortality, and vitamin A deficiency contributes to reduced resistance to infections, especially diarrheal diseases and measles, and increased mortality in children under 5 years of age.36
